about

I didn't always sing. I've been playing guitar nearly fifteen years now, so in some ways I think of myself as primarily a guitarist. The "singer" in singer-songwriter is a newer identity that came part from necessity and the other part from wanting a new way to express things.

Vox Humana is Latin for "human voice." You would mostly find this phrase on a stop of a pipe organ, which added a vibrato effect in an effort to try and emulate the human voice on the instrument. I'll be honest and admit that one of the reasons I chose it as the EP title was to be a tad bit humorous, seeing as the EP is instrumental and therefore doesn't feature any voices. Jokes aside, the title did seem a bit evocative of the potential the acoustic guitar has. Beforehand, the guitar was, and still is in many regards, my voice and I tried my best to coax thoughts, feelings, and places from it. This EP is a reflection of those years and what came of it, featuring songs that are both old and new. "Eurydice" is, to my memory, one of the first (if not, *the* first) songs I ever put together. "In the Golden Hour" is the newest song I’ve composed and it just managed to make it onto this record.
